After Sony brought Suikoden I and II to PSN last year, most JRPG fans were happy enough, but out of the blue Sony’s decided to release Suikoden III as well. It’s officially out now. The first two Suikoden titles are amazing games (with II regarded as one of the greatest RPGs of all time), and while III couldn’t possibly live up to that pedigree, it’s still an excellent game that innovates by breaking the traditional formula established by it’s predecessors.
There’s no doubt fans will be happy with the games release, and if you’ve ever had even a passing interest in the series, nows possibly the best time to check them all out. Unfortunately, Suikoden III isn’t playable on Vita like the other two. There’s something natural about playing through RPGs on the Vita, so it’s too bad fans won’t be able to keep the streak going. Still, more classic games is always a good thing.
