Dragon Quest VII and VIII may Venture Outside Japan

Dragon Quest VII and VIII may Venture Outside Japan

Here’s a funny, firsthand leak. Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii was in Paris, France this past weekend for the 2015 Japan Expo. He was speaking at the event, talking about Dragon Quest , the series he helped create, and got to talking about the two 3DS remakes. If he’s to be believed, both Dragon Quest VII and VIII on the 3DS are being localized.

To be more specific, Horii said that both the 3DS versions of Dragon Quest VII and VIII were being translated into French. Allegedly, his translator was upset when he let the news leak. This means a European localization is, at the very least, in the works. However, European game translations also include an English version, which suggests a worldwide release for these two missing installments.

If this Dragon Quest VII and VIII leak is correct, then we’re left with two follow-up questions. The first is, when? JRPGs take a lot of time to translate. Will they be released in 2016, around the same time as Fire Emblem Fates ? Who’s acting as publisher is a good question as well, since Nintendo handled those duties for the Dragon Quest DS games. We’ll have to wait and see.
