Keiji Inafune Announces Mega Man Legends Spiritual Successor: Red Ash

When Capcom wouldn’t let Keiji Inafue make a new 2D Mega Man, he turned to Kickstarter and Mighty No. 9 was born. This happened shortly after Capcom canceled Mega Man Universe , a new 2D Mega title that was supposed to launch for pretty much every system out there.

But Mega Man Universe wasn’t the only title that was canceled. Mega Man Legends 3 also got the boot. So what did Keiji Inafune do?

He went to Kickstarter again!

Enter Red Ash, a combination anime, video game, Kickstarter project that is essentially Mighty No. 9 ’s version of Mega Man Legends . Red Ash takes place in a world where humanity is almost extinct. Wild robot animals roam the lands, and humanity needs to defeat them and harvest them for scrap. Actually, this is starting to sound a lot like Horizon: Zero Dawn .

The game will follow Beck, a “delver” or someone who explores old ruins to unearth old technology, and Call, his mechanic and weapons dealer, their goal will be to delve into the Mobile Citadel KalKanon, a moving fortress that is on a crash course with one of humanity’s last settlements. Can they stop the collision from wiping out the remnants of the human race?

Only if you fork over some money. The project is looking for $800,000 to make the game and $150,000 to make a companion anime. $25 will secure you a copy of the game upon release.
