Sega Believes it Has Betrayed it’s Fans

Fans of Sonic: The Hedgehog have, for a long time, felt that Sega has betrayed them, and now Sega is on the same page. After not showing up at E3 and having no new games to offer except yet another Sonic Boom , Sega CEO Hajime Satomi has finally realized why fans are so upset.

“I’ve been talking to employees about how [Sega] should start putting serious consideration into quality from this point on,” Satomi said in an interview with Famitsu. “Particularly in North America and Europe, where it’s always been more of a focus on schedules.”

“I believe that if we can’t maintain quality, it would be better to not release anything at all.”

He went on to say that he realizes Sega practically sells it’s games on reputation and not quality right now.

“We did our best to build a relationship of mutual trust with older fans of Sega but, looking back, there have been some titles that have partially betrayed that [trust] in the past 10 years,” he said. “Sega in the 90s was known for its brand, but after that, we’ve lost trust, and we’re left with nothing but reputation … We’d like to win back the trust and become a brand once again.”

Oh how we would all love to go back to the 90s and bring the old Sega back, Satomi. Maybe now that you have admitted that you have a problem, the healing can begin.
