Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Selected Characters Based on Popularity Polls

Remember all those Fire Emblem: Awakening character popularity polls that Nintendo ran a while back? In a recent interview with Famitsu, the creators of Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem have revealed how they designed their Persona-like characters based on Fire Emblem characters of the past, and the answer was popularity polls! They chose a few characters, like Chrom, themselves, but they used Fire Emblem popularity polls to guide them in creating much of the rest of the cast. Did they look at characters like Awakening ‘s Henry and Vaike (“Teach just got tenure!”) who were popular in North America but not Japan?  We don’t know.

In addition, they have revealed that the main campaign will take around 30 hours to complete. However, this does not account for any side quests or other extra content, which will amount to another 30 hours of content, and about a 60 hour run time for perfectionists.

The game is currently in the process of being balanced and bug-texted. All content and features are currently in place and finalization and localization will begin shortly. The game will release on the Wii U in 2016 in North America.
