22cans to Make Good on Godus Promises

22cans to Make Good on Godus Promises

Godus has been one long tale of misfortune for 22cans. Peter Molyneux, creator of the game, is well known for promising the sun and the stars and delivering on much less than that. Earlier on in the year, he promised a cut of the profits and a key role in Godus’s multiplayer to the winner of his Curiosity digging app, Bryan Henderson. Suffice it to say, that hasn’t happened yet.

Molyneux has since departed the business side of this company, and has left business strategy to Simon Phillips, and Phillips is determined to make good on these promises, though he has to keep a realistic outlook.

“It would be so easy for us to go, let’s just sort Bryan out,” Phillips said in an interview with Eurogamer. “That’s a bit of a cop-out. I’ve made it my goal to talk to him and say, ‘Look, we know we fu***d up with this, let’s try and do something.’ I’m in contact with him now. It’s my remit to talk to him.

“We can either do it. Or we can’t do it. Or we don’t know. It falls into one of those categories.”

As for Molyneux himself, he has moved on to work on a brand new project: The Trail, so I guess it’s just not his problem anymore.
