John Smedley has been warring with hackers for a while. This is the man that hackers managed to ground on a plane due to calling in a bomb threat. Ever since, he has been practically threatening them on Twitter. The social media war became something of an inferno, especially after a court decision to not imprison the hackers that had been harassing him.
Now, after all this time, it appears as if Smedley is stepping down from his company, Daybreak. “I can confirm that John Smedley will be taking some time off from the company for the near-term and transitioning to a different role to be determined,” a Daybreak spokesperson said.
“On behalf of Daybreak, we wish Smed well in his new endeavors,” the Daybreak said. “Any questions regarding his new business should be directed to him. ”
So it looks like he didn’t step down due to the hackers, but rather due to trying a new business venture. Still, we can’t help but think the two are related.
