If you want a Shovel Knight amiibo when he appears in a few months and have trouble finding him, you won’t be able to blame Nintendo. The company isn’t going to be the one behind this NFC figure. It turns out production and distribution will be completely left to Yacht Club Games.
The news came from PAX Prime, where Destructoid talked to the studio’s Sean Velasco. He says the creation was left to the developer. All it did was license the right to make an amiibo from Nintendo, and Nintendo then watched as it was made to ensure everything was done right.
Hopefully this means the Shovel Knight amiibo won’t be a retailer exclusive! A release date hasn’t been confirmed for it, but the 3DS and Wii U physical copies will be in stores on October 13.
