Steam Big Picture Mode Gets a Tune Up

Steam Big Picture Mode Gets a Tune Up

Valve has been working to make sure Steam is all ready for the Steam Machines coming in October and November, and that means making sure the client is working well. The latest client beta update is good for everyone, though, as it improves Big Picture mode.

Big Picture mode lets you have a full-screen view of Steam with big icons to enjoy. Now, thanks to the September 22 update, the Main Menu and Community sections look better. The Web and Friends shortcuts have been mapped to controllers’ trigger buttons. Also, you can remove favorites in the web view.

The latest Steam update also fixes some other small issues. Working in offline mode won’t make you lose some settings, for example. Also, music won’t automatically advance if you scrub the seek bar with a mouse.

If you agreed to be part of the group getting Steam client betas, you should see the new Big Picture mode layout now. If not, expect to see it look different in the next few days or weeks.
