No One is Working on a Game of Thrones Movie Now

Do you want to see a movie about major Game of Thrones plot points or lore? Well, that wish isn’t going to be granted just yet. Despite a rumor floating around the internet that a movie is going to be made based on the series, perhaps even a prequel centered around Robert’s Rebellion, the truth has come out. George R. R. Martin has taken to Livejournal to confirm it isn’t a thing. Yes, George R. R. Martin is one of the few people left who still uses Livejournal.

On an unrelated post, a fan asked the writer if rumors about a Game of Thrones movie were true. Martin promptly replied, “No one is working on any movie just now. And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert’s Rebellion.” He also went on to note that the previous comment was completely off-topic, which was kind of adorable.

However, the phrasing Martin used is important to note. He says there is no Game of Thrones movie being worked on “just now,” which means one could happen. He also rules out Robert’s Rebellion as a possible plot point, which is interesting. Perhaps after the series has finally ended, we’ll see some sort of feature film. Maybe it will act as an epilogue?
