Square Enix Cancels its Horrible Deus Ex Pre-order Program

Square Enix Cancels its Horrible Deus Ex Pre-order Program

Guys, we did it! We actually complained so much and so loudly that it changed something for the better! Actually we really should give some serious props here to Square Enix for listening to its fans and making a serious change.

The pre-order program for Deus Ex was an insultingly obvious cash grab that seemed to threaten the withholding of content if plenty of players didn’t pony up some extra cash. Of course, if enough fans were willing to pay some seriously big bucks Square Enix announced they would release the game early, as if it were holding the game over our heads with a hand held out. The whole thing seemed rigged in Square Enix’s favor and there really wasn’t much incentive to participate in the program outside of fear of missing out on some great content.

After some intense backlash from its fans, SE announced that it is canceling the pre-order system and awarding everyone who pre-orders the game or purchases the day-one edition with all of the in-game content. Thanks for listening, Square Enix. Thanks for bitching, fans.
