All Xbox One Controllers Getting Button-Mapping

All Xbox One Controllers Getting Button-Mapping

Thinking about spending $149.99 on one of those Xbox One Elite Wireless Controllers when it’s released on October 27? If the primary reason you’re doing so is because you want to configure the controller to your liking, you should save your money. It turns out the Elite isn’t going to be corner the market on button-mapping. The regular Xbox One Wireless Controllers will support that function too.

They don’t have it yet, but the function is coming. Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, said so on Twitter . A user asked why only the Xbox One Elite Controllers offer the function, and points out that the PlayStation 4 offers button-remapping for all users. Ybarra responded that it is coming for all Xbox One controllers soon.

There’s no timeline for Xbox One controller remapping yet, but “soon” is still encouraging. If that was your primary reason for possibly splurging on the fancier peripheral model, perhaps it would be wise to hold off for the moment. Give Microsoft a few months.
