Microsoft Hopes to Implement Background Music on Xbox One

Microsoft Hopes to Implement Background Music on Xbox One

Many Xbox One fans wish that the system would allow them to play their music library in the background while they do other things on their system. This was a feature available on the Xbox 360 and, to an extent, on the original Xbox. It appears that Microsoft is also a fan of the feature, according to a tweet from the head of the Xbox Division, Phil Spencer.

In it, he states, “This one [feature] is just a prioritization thing with other work. We like the feature.” He then went on to clarify, in case there was any confusion, “…it’s in the list of things we want to do. Just behind other work we are doing right now.”

So it seems fair to say that Xbox One owners will be receiving the feature eventually. In the meanwhile, they have a new dashboard update to look forward to, currently titled the “New Xbox One Experience.” Among other features, the update promises to let players remap the buttons on their controllers to better suit their play style.
