The time has come. It’s been a long wait, but soon a chosen few will have a taste of DOOM . And by “a chosen few,” I mean people who purchased Wolfenstein: The New Order before May 24, 2014. Those lucky people can now register to play the multiplayer DOOM closed alpha. When? No one knows yet. All we know is that Bethesda has told everyone who qualifies to sign up at the official website for this English language alpha.
Bethesda may not have a start date, but it did have details about what will be in the DOOM closed alpha. People will play the 6v6 Team Deathmatch on the Heatwave map, A Revenant Demon Rune will be available, as will a Gauss Cannon powerup. Available standard weapons include a Plasma Rifle, Repeater, Rocket Launcher, Static Cannon, Super Shotgun, and Vortex Rifle. You’ll also have Frag Grenades and Personal Teleporters available.
Doom will come to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC in 2016. If you get into the closed alpha, PlayStation 4 owners don’t need PlayStation Plus to try the multiplayer, while Xbox One owners do need Xbox Live Gold to play.
