StarCraft Match-Fixing Ring Arrested in South Korea

A special investigation unit has identified 12 alleged members of a StarCraft 2 match-fixing ring. Nine suspects have been indicted and arrested, one of whom was a head coach of the eSports team, Prime. Two members of the team were also arrested.

The incident involved the fixing of five professional matches for bribes ranging from $5,000 to $17,500 by players. Police also arrested four brokers, a former pro-gamer, and two known criminals for providing compensation for the fix.

When made aware of the arrest, Korean eSports Association director, Cho Man Soo, issued life time bans to the afforementioned head coach, Park War-Sik, and StarCraft 2 pro-gamer, Choi Beyong-Heon.
