Rise of the Tomb Raider is shaping up really nicely. The stealth and survival elements combined with hunting and resource management give the player a deeper sense of connection to the game’s heroine, who doesn’t come across either as anemic or as the ultimate badass. To give you a better idea of the challenges that await Lara as she fights to reach an ancient city that could house the secret to immortality, Microsoft has produced a three-part video series called “Woman vs. Wild.”
The first episode, “Harsh Environments,” emphasizes careful exploration and resourcefulness as paramount to survival. It’s Lara against the world as man, beast, and nature conspire to end her life before she unravels the clues left behind by her father, and reaches the mysterious city of Kitezh.
