Steam’s First Item Store Launches for Rust

Steam’s First Item Store Launches for Rust

Have you felt like your Steam games needed a few more things to buy? You know, a means of accessing microtransactions for titles that could be acquired through the storefront? To be honest, it doesn’t matter if it’s a welcome prospect, because it’s happened anyway. Steam has introduced Item Stores.

Item Stores are a means of getting add-ons for games. Rust is the first title to have an Item Store at the moment, and it carries cosmetic items people could normally purchase from the game’s Community Market. The difference is, the developer, Facepunch Studios, is directly selling items for $2.49 each, which is cheaper than the going rate in the aforementioned market.

Expect more developer-run Item Stores to appear on Steam in the coming weeks and months.
