World of Warcraft Celebrates 11 Years with In-Game Items

World of Warcraft Celebrates 11 Years with In-Game Items

Blizzard’s MMO, World of Warcraft, has been a huge phenomenon within our culture. South Park made fun of it, but even in that episode, it depicted virtually everyone playing it. This happened to reflect reality, to an extent, as many people across many demographics frequently logged on to play the game with others. Next week, the game will be 11 years old. Oh, how the time flies.

To celebrate, Blizzard will be giving players a host of in-game items. Two items allow players to cast onto party members, forcing them into gnoll and murloc costumes.Other items include the Edwin VanCleef exquisite costume set,and an inflatable Thunderfury. Players will also gain an 11% bonus to experience points and reputation for an hour via the Celebration Package.

It’s surprising how long the MMO has persisted. It’s true, subscription numbers are down, but the game still manages to boast quite a large player base. One is almost inspired to log back on for the celebration to see just what has changed in the massively influential title over the years.
