Team Ninja Explains Why Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Isn’t Leaving Asia

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, a spin-off of the fighting game series, stars the heroines as they frolic on a beach and play some volleyball. It”s coming to Japan and Asia, with the Asian version offering English subtitles even, on February 25. The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita games won’t be coming to other regions, though, and Koei Tecmo says the debate about the portayal of women in games is the reason why.

On Facebook , a Team Ninja community manager said that the idea of properly portraying women in games is why Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 won’t come west. Koei Tecmo doesn’t want to deal with the controversy surrounding a title where women wear super small swimsuits. Koei Tecmo Europe ‘s representative confirmed the reaction to previous Dead or Alive games and the debate is the reason for the decision and recommended importing the Asian version with English subtitles.

Both the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 are region-free devices, so a North American or European system can play an Asian version of a game without any issues.
