Last month we reported that Square Enix was holding a pretty interesting contest. Fans were asked to use their creativity, wits, and some awesome footage from Just Cause 3 to compile a killer trailer, the best of which would be featured as the official launch trailer for the game. There were over 1200 entries which were judged for their usage of great music, sharp humor, and explosive action. The winning contributor, “CoolTwinSkittles,” brought all three together in what turns out to be a very divisive trailer, appropriately named, “Explosion Rap Trailer.”
The real entertainment is actually unfolding below the trailer on YouTube in the comments section. Apparently everyone is pretty pissed and confused about the chosen winner. I have to admit, compared to the runner-ups, “Explosion Rap Trailer” seems to have won based on its appeal to the least mature among us. It’s loud, it’s annoying, it’s trying too hard, but what the hell. A comment from the official Just Cause account states that they liked how the trailer didn’t take itself too seriously, which you can see for yourself:
