Want in on what’s probably the most famous VR headset? You’ll have your chance to stake a claim soon. The Oculus Rift pre-orders for the consumer version of the peripheral will open on January 6.
Here’s the thing, though. Despite having a pre-order date, other important information is still absent. We don’t know how much the consumer version of an Oculus Rift will cost, or when the VR headset will even ship. Dev kits are sold out, but originally cost $350. On the plus side, we do know it will come with copies of CCP’s Eve: Valkyrie and Playful’s Lucky’s Tale .
After the Oculus Rift pre-orders open, an AMA will begin on Reddit . Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus, will be answering people’s questions about the device. Let’s hope there’s no PR fluff and real concerns and issues are discussed.
