World of Tanks is a multiplayer game that asks its players to rely on tactics and maneuvering to win matches. Different tanks function, more or less, as different classes and the game has become very popular on the PC platform. Last July, it was released on Xbox One with cross-platform support. Now, after extensive beta testing, Wargaming is almost ready to release it for PlayStation 4.
In fact, the release is right around the corner, currently set for January 19th. World of Tanks will be free to play, but current PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an exclusive tank called the German Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J-PS. It’s a bit of a mouthful, but the tank will receive it’s own garage slot so that should offset any frustration a player might experience when they are figuring out how to actually communicate which tank they plan on using.
Players who don’t have a subscription to PlayStation Plus will also be able to play for free. The game allows players to spend real money in exchange for upgrades, but those can also be unlocked through regular gameplay. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a free to play game, but with decent gameplay.
