Tom Clancy’s The Division is less than six weeks away, can you believe it? Expectations are sky high for this new third-person, online, multiplayer shooter / RPG. Only time will tell whether or not The Division will be the next big thing and dethrone Destiny as the ultimate time-sink for RPG and shooter fans. If you’re the type of person who can decide within a few hours whether or not a game is for you then the time is now, as the closed beta for The Division has begun on the Xbox One and begins tomorrow on PS4 and PC.
The beta will continue through Sunday, and don’t expect any of your progress to carry over into the actual game. It’s probably safe to expect some kind of reward for participating, though; a gun skin, maybe, or some exclusive loot. If you pre-ordered the game then you’re guaranteed beta access and have likely already received your download code in your email. If you haven’t already made that commitment but want to try out the game, I may have a real-life cheat code for you. If you pre-order the game through Amazon you should get an email from Ubisoft with the code that you need to activate your beta access. As soon as you activate this code you can go straight back to Amazon and cancel your pre-order; they don’t charge you until the game ships. Yes it’s sneaky, but so is luring people to commit to buying your game with a beta test. So there.
