Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Coming June 28

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Coming June 28

Late last night and early this morning there were rumors swirling about a new Lego Star Wars game. The evidence was fairly conclusive. The Xbox Games Store had already leaked a listing with details, and the trailer even found its way to YouTube before long. This morning TT Games and Warner Bros. have confirmed that Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens is indeed a thing, and we even have the official release date: June 28.

It’s odd that all of this could be kept under wraps for so long, especially considering how far along the game must be. I suppose while we were all distracted by Lego Marvel’s Avengers TT Games had already been long at work on this joint. My source at Polygon points out that EA currently has the licensing agreement with Disney and Lucasfilm to develop and publish games based on the Star Wars franchise, but I’m guessing that TT Games and LucasArts still have some lively fine print between them from past Lego Star Wars games that worked out in Warner Bros. favor; Disney and Lego also have very close ties. The trailer is adorable, and you can watch it right here:
