Ubisoft Has Plans for Cheaters in The Division

Ubisoft Has Plans for Cheaters in The Division

If you participated in the closed beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division on PC, you may have come across some frustrating anomalies, especially in the Dark Zone. Maybe you got into a firefight with another player and noticed that your opponent never seemed to exhaust his ammunition. Perhaps you snuck up on somebody and pumped them full of lead but they wouldn’t die. Did you ever get shot out of nowhere, seemingly by a ghost? If you experienced any or all of these things, you’re not alone; there were a lot of cheaters that took advantage of some server and data transfer exploits, enabling them to become invisible, invincible, and give themselves unlimited ammunition.

Ubisoft has acknowledged the problem on its official forums , and stated that “…a system will be in place to ensure a fair experience for players when the game is released on March 8.” What that system will be we’re not exactly sure. We’re assuming Ubisoft will augment the way data is accessed by users and communicated to its servers, but with only a month to go before release, we might see something like a reporting system that leads to the banning of anyone who decides to cheat. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
