Link is America’s Most Popular amiibo

Link is America’s Most Popular amiibo

Nintendo’s amiibo NFC figures are big sellers. Over 31 million of the toys have shipped worldwide, with 9.9 million alone sent out in the last quarter. Exact sales figures aren’t in, but some other interesting information is. Nintendo announced which amiibo are most popular in every region. Spoiler: The Legend of Zelda’ s Link won in the states.

In North America, the original Link was the most popular amiibo. He was followed by Bowser, Toon Link, Mewtwo, Sonic, Pikachu, Classic Mario, Pac-Man, Mega Man, and Ganondorf. It’s interesting to see all three of the third party figures in the top 10, right? And that The Legend of Zelda folks are so popular in general.

The top figures for Japan and Europe were also announced. Japan’s all about the cuties, with the Inkling Girl taking first place, followed by the Inkling Squid, Inkling Boy, Mario, Classic Mario, Modern Mario, Isabelle, Kirby, Green Yarn Yoshi, and Digby selling best. In Europe, they want the classics. The best seller there was Classic Mario, with Link, the Inkling Squid, Green Yarn Yoshi, Mario, Super Smash Bros Mario, Pikachu, Inkling Boy, Toad, and Inkling Girl leading the charge.

Given the success, I bet we’ll see lots more amiibo in 2016.
