Star Fox Zero Could See Another Delay

Star Fox Zero has had a tough run. It’s strange that an IP so well-loved by fans, especially with the aid of Platinum Games, could be struggling so hard to make the cut. SF0 was originally due out December 2015, but was delayed by Nintendo because it needed a little more polish. In their words, they wanted to make sure that it had that “Platinum shine,” and Miyamoto seemed to be genuinely bummed about the whole thing; he just wants to meet fan expectations. At the time of writing this article, the release date stands at April 22.

There could be another change in plans, though. Liam Robertson, a Nintedo Life contributor who has been in touch with individuals close to the project has been tweeting about some QA concerns. “I heard the QA team at NoE is going through a bit of a nightmare to get it ready. Nobody knows for sure if it’ll pass QA with a thumbs up.” Apparently they have about two more weeks to get the game ready for certification, otherwise QA can recommend another delay. A few important things to keep in mind here:

Almost nobody who played the demo responded positively to the control scheme. Although Platinum Games is involved in production, the majority of development is being handled by Nintendo, and multiplayer is under the direction of the same people who gave us Mario Kart 8 ‘s lazy battle mode. Knowing these things, I’m almost hoping for another delay at this point. I’d rather have a stellar Star Fox game later than a crap one soon. What do you guys think?
