Sony Calls It Quits for the PlayStation TV in Japan

Sony Calls It Quits for the PlayStation TV in Japan

Here’s some sad news. The PlayStation TV’s run is done in Japan. Sony has updated its official website , which reported the sad news. Next to the PlayStation TV’s information, it says the item will no longer be shipped in Japan. It’s discontinued.

This means people in Japan won’t see more PlayStation TVs appearing on store shelves. Both the microconsole and the bundle, which includes the microconsole, memory card, and a DualShock 3, are out. As of January 3, 2016, Japan’s Media Create says about 185,452 of these systems were sold, which explains why it’s at an end.

Sony hasn’t said anything about the state of the PlayStation TV outside of Japan. It’s really a handy little device, capable of playing a great assortment of PlayStation Vita games. The normal price is $99.99, but you can easily find it for $20-50 online. You may want to pick one up while you can!
