CD Projekt Wants to Top The Witcher 3 With Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Wants to Top The Witcher 3 With Cyberpunk 2077

The whole adventure / RPG genre now has to live up to the standard set by The Witcher 3, but perhaps no developer feels the pressure to deliver more than CD Projekt RED, which has won multiple awards for producing such a magnificent game. Whatever it does next, it has to be great, or else suffer endless comparisons as something “less than;” something that falls short of The Witcher ‘s greatness. In a recent Q&A session following a financial release, CD Projekt’s president Adam Kicinski and studio head Adam Badowski confirmed that their next big project, Cyberpunk 2077, is still a long ways off.

The Witcher will be a tough act to follow, and because of its enormous success Badowski stated that Cyberpunk 2077 has to be “even better, even bigger, and even more revolutionary” than originally planned. He also stated that it was going to be a much larger game than was The Witcher. That’s setting the bar pretty high, and it’s going to take a lot of work to pull this off. That’s why Kicinski stated that he wanted to expand the company, effectively doubling in size from about 400 staffers to 800 or more. Big things are in the works, and Cyberpunk 2077 is currently projected to launch sometime in 2017.
