Oculus Rifts Are Shipping, Palmer Luckey Delivered the First One

It has begun. The VR revolution is upon us. Oculus Rifts started shipping out on March 24, and the first headsets should start arriving at people’s homes today. If you placed an order, you should be seeing a very special box on your doorstep. That is, unless you’re Ross Martin.

Martin was the first person to pre-order the consumer version of the Oculus Rift. To honor and thank him for that, Palmer Luckey, creator of the Oculus Rift, gave him his VR headset. He flew out to Anchorage, Alaska to deliver the peripheral first-hand. You can even see Luckey giving Martin the first Oculus Rift on Facebook .

Man, doesn’t that make you wish you’d placed the very first pre-order? Still, even if you didn’t, knowing everyone has access to the Oculus Rift today is pretty exciting. Let’s hope some good indie games and experiences come of it!
