Component Shortages Delay Oculus Rifts

Component Shortages Delay Oculus Rifts

Some people have their Oculus Rift headsets already. That’s great. It’s a neat peripheral. But quite a few people don’t, and Oculus has no answer as to when they’ll be getting the item they pre-ordered. All they know is that it might take one to three weeks before their item is prepared to be shipped, all because of some mysterious component shortage.

Worse, Palmer Luckey, the Oculus Rift founder, hasn’t been exactly helpful. In tweets asking for information, Luckey keeps saying information will come, “as soon as possible.” He copies and pastes images of his previous responses in reply to subsequent queries.

Emails have gone out, saying that people should have a new shipping window by April 12. Also, all orders placed before April 1 will have their shipping covered. Still, it’s quite a long time to wait to find out when you’ll finally get an item that should have been ready on its official launch date.
