GameStops Will Get PlayStation VR Demo Stations

GameStops Will Get PlayStation VR Demo Stations

Not only are GameStops going to get HTC Vives for people to try, but the store will have PlayStation VR demo stations too. John Koller, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Vice President, gave a presentation to GameStop higher-ups saying it will offer people a chance to test Sony’s headset between June and December of this year.

Fortune ’s report says Koller promised upwards of 500,000 PlayStation VR demo experiences. However, he didn’t mention how many GameStop locations will have the headset on-hand. Given the estimation, it will likely have a larger install base than the HTC Vive demo. When ithat was announced last week , only 10 GameStop locations were confirmed.

This is a great marketing decision. The best way to sell VR is to have people test it out firsthand. Having PlayStation VRs at a number of GameStops will give people a chance to get excited about the technology. Plus, it benefits both Sony and GameStop, as it gets people in stores and talking about the headset. Everyone wins!
