Uncharted 4 in the Hands of Gamers 2 Weeks Early

Yikes, this is going to be a rough couple of weeks for Naughty Dog and Sony as they attempt to keep a lid on what will undoubtedly be a torrent of Uncharted 4 footage spewing onto YouTube and Twitch. How is that possible, you ask? It appears that the street date for Uncharted 4 has been broken, and gamers around the world are receiving their copies today. At first we thought this was an isolated incident in the UK, but now we understand that people in the US and in Germany are receiving their copies as well.

The unanimous suspicion seems to be that the game has been sent out early by a number of distributors who were still adhering to the original release date. The release date was pushed back to May 10 to allow for extra manufacturing time and to “ensure that all gamers worldwide have the opportunity to play the game on day one.” I seriously can’t come up with a quip clever enough to convey how ironic this is. If you pre-ordered Uncharted 4 through Amazon there’s a slight chance that your copy could be shipped out today, but I wouldn’t count on it. Several people have sent in their stories of finding the game on local store shelves as well, so if you live close to a mom and pop retailer with a games section, it might be worth a trip.
