John Romero Made a New DOOM Level

John Romero Made a New DOOM Level

John Romero wants people to fund Blackroom , his new Kickstarter game. So, naturally, he made a level for an old game to do some convincing. That makes sense, right? Even if it doesn’t, that’s okay, because it means we get a new DOOM level. Romero spent two weeks making it just for us.

Romero’s new map is designed to show what kind of gameplay can expect from his new game. The E1M8 level works with older versions of DOOM , provided you also have the GZDOOM engine . Download the file from Dropbox , and you’ll be all set. While it’ll feel new, it’ll look familiar, as it’s based on the Phobos Mission Control Command Control map made by Tom Hall. After you’ve added the file to the DOOM. exe program, warp to the new level by typing, “IDCLEV14.”

Doesn’t this get you all nostalgic? Not only is it a good way of making people aware of Blackroom , I bet it’ll get us hyped up for the new DOOM too!
