Mario Kart 8 and Pokemon X/Y Are Nintendo’s Top Sellers

Mario Kart 8 and Pokemon X/Y Are Nintendo’s Top Sellers

Nintendo just released its earning report for the last year. While poring over numbers can be pretty boring, you can also learn some pretty interesting facts when you pay attention! Or rather, you can discover things that I found out about, as I looked over all of this so you wouldn’t have to. Did you know Mario Kart 8 is the best selling Wii U game, at 7.5 million copies sold, and Pokemon X and Y are the top 3DS game, with a combined 14.7 million sold?

Here’s the full list of the top 20 Wii U and 3DS games sold, listed by the number of both digital and physical copies sold. That also counts physical copies that may have been part of a hardware bundle. Which helps you understand why Nintendo Land passed 5 million.

  • Pokemon X/Y (3DS) – 14.7 million
  • Mario Kart 7 (3DS) – 13.26 million
  • Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby (3DS) – 11.84 million
  • Super Mario 3D Land (3DS) – 10.73 million
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) – 10.25 million
  • Super Smash Bros. (3DS) – 8.12 million
  • New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U) – 5.19 million
  • Nintendo Land (Wii U) – 5.07 million
  • Tomodachi Life (3DS) – 4.98 million
  • Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS) – 4.82 million
  • Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) – 4.82 million
  • Super Smash Bros. (Wii U) – 4.8 million
  • Splatoon (Wii U) – 4.27 million
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS) – 4.04 million
  • Super Mario Maker (Wii U) – 3.52 million
  • New Super Luigi U (Wii U) – 2.49 million
  • Mario Party 10 (Wii U) – 1.76 million
  • The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD (Wii U) – 1.72 million

Is anyone else surprised Super Mario Maker didn’t sell better? I would have thought it’d be on part with Splatoon by now. Other than that, the figures aren’t very surprising.
