Oculus Rift’s Headed to Best Buy

Oculus Rift’s Headed to Best Buy

This news isn’t going to make some people happy. It turns out Oculus Rifts will be up for sale in some Best Buy stores before pre-orders start shipping out. Not fair, right? But apparently, that’s how it works now.

Starting May 7, Oculus Rifts will be available to try and, in small numbers, buy at certain Best Buys. 48 stores will have them as part of the Intel Experience . The Climb , Dreamdeck, and Farlands experiences will all be available. People who’d prefer to stay at home will be able to buy a small number of Oculus Rift headsets from Amazon and Microsoft at 9am PT on May 6.

This is unfortunate, considering how many people pre-ordered and still don’t know when they’ll get their units. Oculus’ solution for that is for those people to buy a retail unit from Amazon, Best Buy, or Microsoft instead, cancel their orders saying they did, and getting EVE: Valkyrie’ s Founder Pack still.

Just make sure you reserve your spot before you head to Best Buy for a demo. Yes, you read that right. Oculus has an Oculus Live appointment scheduler so you can arrange a demo spot up to a month in advance.
