Nintendo’s E3 Plans Revealed

Nintendo’s E3 Plans Revealed

We have a bit of potentially disappointing news as we learn of Nintendo’s plans (or lack thereof) for E3 this year. Apparently Nintendo won’t be hosting a live conference at the show, which I expected, but it appears that we won’t get any kind of E3 Nintendo Direct, either. Instead, Nintendo is going to focus hard on The Legend of Zelda Wii U . Tuesday June 14, Reggie Fils-Aime will kick off a special, Nintendo Treehouse Live event at 12:00 PM EST. This will be an all-day live-stream of the new Legend of Zelda , which will also be Nintendo’s only playable game on the show floor, so expect a lot of coverage and gameplay footage.

The Legend of Zelda will be launching next year, presumably alongside Nintendo’s next console (code named NX) in March. Why Nintendo has decided to have such a small presence at E3 is unclear, but then, Nintendo always does things in its own way; on its own time. Nintendo will host its own special event later this year where it will reveal the NX, so we’ll just have to be patient.
