Is a New Crash Bandicoot on the Way?

Lex Lang is a voice actor with a long resume, but for the sake of this conversation we’re interested in his role as Dr. Neo Cortex in the Crash Bandicoot games. Crash is one of the most beloved PlayStation mascots, and we’ve been seeing hints for over a year now that he may make his triumphant return sometime soon on the PS4. More recently, the internet went a little crazy when Shawn Layden appeared on stage at the 2015 PlayStation Experience wearing a Crash Bandicoot t-shirt. This was seen as an act of malicious trollery, as fans were anticipating Sony to announce a new Crash game at the event.

Those dreams fell apart, but now we have reason to believe we might get that long-awaited announcement this year at E3. Lex Lang updated his Facebook status yesterday with an interesting celebration of throwback Thursday, saying: “Wow! what a throwback Thursday! This week I have been asked to resurrect three different characters that I voiced from 3 different games gone by. A doctor, a devil, and a droid/AI. Unfortunately that’s all I’m allowed to disclose at this time. Stay tuned for more details!!! Very excited about these!!!”

NeoGAF member “wrestleman”, who broke the news , also runs a fan Twitter account that focuses on all news pertaining to a possible Crash Bandicoot revival (@BringBackCrash). He tweeted Mr. Lang a winky face followed by a bunch of question marks right after the Facebook post came to light, and Lang gave the tweet a heart, which the internet has taken as irrefutable proof that Crash is indeed making a return, and soon. Many are hoping and expecting Sony to announce the game at E3, but we’ll have to wait and see.
