Unreal Tournament Reboot Gets New Map Today

Unreal Tournament Reboot Gets New Map Today

The crazy success of DOOM means that a lot of people are engaging in DOOM multiplayer right now, and that has caused a resurging interest in faster-paced, arena-style combat. There I was, having the time of my life and thinking, “Where’s the Quake? Why don’t we have a new Unreal Tournament yet?” Little did I know that a new Unreal Tournament is indeed in the works, and you can play it right now. The reboot is currently being developed by Epic and is in its early, pre-alpha stages. It may be a little rough, but you can play it for free ( click here ), and today a brand new map was added to the mix for your fragging enjoyment.

“Underland” is the name of this newest edition. It’s a murky, swampy arena with old stone ruins and plenty of verticality. Epic has put together a lovely little trailer showcasing some hectic gameplay on the new map and, I have to say, it looks really good for a game so early in its development. While I’m not sure my GTX 560 Ti can keep up with the new Unreal Engine, I may have to give this a shot (pun intended). Check out the trailer for yourself right here:
