Gamestop COO Expects New Console Announcements at E3

Gamestop COO Expects New Console Announcements at E3

There are so many cats out of so many bags by now, we just don’t know what to expect next month at E3. While Sony and Microsoft are staying very quiet about their respective future hardware, it seems like they’ve both hired teams of sponsored sources to go out and seed the industry with leaks pertaining to new consoles. PlayStation NEO, Xbox One Slim, Xbox One-Two, Scorpio, NX… there’s no end to the speculation and hearsay.

While Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has stated outright that the NX won’t make an appearance at E3, I think we’re likely to see some new hardware from Sony and Microsoft; and I’m not the only one. Gamestop COO Tony Bartel has a hunch that hardware will steal the spotlight this year as well. “We expect E3 to focus on key titles in the back half of the year and console announcements,” he said. “We also expect VR to generate significant gaming consumer and press interest.” Hopefully that means we’ll get a good glimpse of PSVR launch titles, or possibly a more aggressively priced model of the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. E3 is only a couple of weeks away at this point, so we don’t have long to wait!
