Mafia III Gets Musical

Mafia III Gets Musical

Mafia III is set in 1968. Which, as anyone will tell you, was a great time for music. Some amazing artists made their debut back in the day, and 2K Games has confirmed the game will pay tribute to and acknowledge that. How? Good question! There will be over 100 period-appropriate songs in the game.

2K Games hasn’t let slip all the songs that will be in Mafia III yet. However, there is a way to have some idea of what we’ll be hearing. The $150 collector’s edition includes a vinyl soundtrack with 11 of the songs in the game on it. Which means we know these 11 songs are confirmed.

  • The Animals, “The House of the Rising Sun”
  • Clarence Carter, “Slip Away”
  • Dewey Edwards, “I Let a Good Thing Go By”
  • Jimi Hendrix, “All Along the Watchtower”
  • Lightnin’ Hopkins, “Black Ghost Blues”
  • Lonnie Youngblood, “Go Go Shoes”
  • Otis Redding and Carla Thomas, “Tramp”
  • The Rolling Stones, “Paint It Black”
  • Rufus Thomas, “Walking the Dog”
  • Sam Cooke, “Chain Gang”
  • The Shadows of Knight, “I Got My Mojo Working”

All of those songs are great tracks, in case you’ve never heard them. “All Along the Watchtower” and “Paint It Black” are especially amazing. Sounds like Mafia III is going to be one of those games where you’ll crank the in-game radio up.
