id Software Is Improving DOOM’s Multiplayer

id Software Is Improving DOOM’s Multiplayer

Bad things can happen when the primary developer outsources work on a game. Look at DOOM . Certain Affinity worked on the multiplayer portion instead of id Software. This meant the multiplayer has some issues and was missing some important elements. But now, id Software has hold of the reins again! That means we’re finally getting our custom games back!

Custom games were available in DOOM’ s alpha. While they weren’t supposed to be there, people loved them. I know I was disappointed they weren’t in the final game, but id Software is bringing them back. They’ll be joined by bots, which were also included in the alpha and absent in the final build. Bots don’t have a release window, but the private matches and custom game settings should arrive in a summer update.

The other update will be multiplayer DLC. There will be free and paid content for people to add on to the existing DOOM experience. That should do a lot to help keep the game lively. If all goes well, the single, multiplayer, and SnapMap modes should all work together to keep this game relevant for some time to come.
