No Man’s Sky Lawsuit Settled

No Man’s Sky Lawsuit Settled

Everyone was wondering what was going on with that whole No Man’s Sky delay. Especially since the game didn’t show up at E3 2016. A new revelation may have something to do with it. Hello Games’ boss, Sean Murray, has announced a lawsuit that almost kept the game from keeping its name has been settled.

Here’s what happened. BSkyB, a British broadcasting company, “owns” the word “sky.” This was causing trouble with No Man’s Sky , as BSkyB had a lawsuit against Hello Games over the name. For three years, the company’s been fighting it, and now a settlement has been reached, as a result, No Man’s Sky can be No Man’s Sky.

Trademark law is crazy, scary stuff, folks. Like remember how King (the Candy Crush people) had that whole series of disputes where it took issue with Stoic Studio over The Banner Saga because of the word “saga” and was filing for “candy” trademarks? At least this time we get a happy ending!
