Everyone is still talking about the Warcraft movie . Most fans and critics who saw it agree that it pretty much sucks, but it still has a die-hard, remnant fanbase. One of my best friends in the world is an extremely critical person. We both grew up playing Warcraft and World of Warcraft , and he loved the film. All things considered, it’s actually done really well. That may not be immediately apparent if you’re looking at US ticket sales, though. During its second week US ticket sales dropped almost 73%, but China ate it up.
When global ticket sales are taken into consideration, Warcraft has made over $377 million. This makes it the most successful video game movie of all time, surpassing Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Angry Birds. The movie cost somewhere around $300 million to produce and market, so it’s safe to assume that this is going to go down as a success for Legendary Pictures and director Duncan Jones, who said that working on the film was “exhausting.” While it doesn’t sound like Jones is eager to get back to work any time soon, the fact that Warcraft will go down as the most successful video game movie of all time practically ensures a sequel.
