New App Introduces Texture Modding to Dark Souls III

New App Introduces Texture Modding to Dark Souls III

PC gaming is such a wonderful, but fickle, thing. If you have a top-of-the-line gaming PC, then normally you’d want any game you’re going to play running on your PC rather than on a console, if for no other reason than because it’ll look better on your rig. That’s not always the case, though. Some games just refuse to run well on PC – Arkham Knight is a great example. The Dark Souls series has been hit or miss on PC, and generally speaking you’re better off playing Dark Souls III on PS4 or Xbox One where you know it won’t bug out on you. There is one great advantage to playing Souls on PC, though: mods.

Until now there hasn’t been any news at all on the modding front for Dark Souls III . From Software hasn’t included any mod support for the PC version and because the game has a few online features, modding could be risky. However, a new application called iGP11 may have just opened the modding floodgates. It’s not going to let you play through the campaign as Tracer, but it might make the game more beautiful than it already is. The application allows you to “dump, inject and convert textures to different formats.” The developer states that the application should have “little to no” performance impact, and can be utilized by talented individuals to place their own custom textures and eventually, shaders and effects into the game. This will no doubt lead to some incredible results. To download or learn more about iGP11 you can click here .
