Balrog Hits the Ring in Street Fighter V This Friday

Balrog Hits the Ring in Street Fighter V This Friday

Street Fighter V has delivered a mixed bag of pleasant surprises and frustrating shortcomings. On one hand, this is simultaneously the most technical and most accessible Street Fighter game ever, and the V-Trigger system has proven to be an incredible addition. On the other hand, there are issues for anyone who doesn’t know what the hell a V-Trigger is. Those who just wanted to hop in and play some arcade-style Street Fighter or hit up a story mode for some trophies haven’t had very much content to enjoy. That’s about to change, though, as the “June” Story Mode update is imminent!

I’m being cheeky and placing quotation marks around June because, according to an official update from Capcom Unity , the update is actually going live Friday, July 1. Along with the long-awaited story mode, in which every existing and impending DLC character will be playable for free, the update is also introducing Ibuki and Balrog as playable characters. The former had already been revealed, while the latter is coming as a nifty surprise.

You’ll be able to select Balrog and start punching up some faces in a brand new stage as well. Balrog’s trademark Casino from Street Fighter II has received a major face-lift and will be available this Friday too. If you’re one for premium costumes, you’ll want to check out Karin’s new swimsuit getup. It’ll look smashing on the new “Kanzuki Family Private Beach” stage, which will also be made available with the update. Keep in mind: while neither will be playable in competitive modes,

Juri and Uriel will both be playable in Story Mode as well. Consider them free preview builds as Capcom continues to tweak and balance them for competitive play. Enjoy the update trailer below, and get hyped!
