Batman: Return to Arkham Delayed Indefinitely

Batman: Return to Arkham Delayed Indefinitely

That’s it: Batman games are officially cursed. I’m frustrated to report that Batman: Return to Arkham has been delayed indefinitely. The official statement from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment reads as follows, “After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience. We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready. We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”

We tend to think of remasters as quick work, especially when you’re dealing with a game that was already utilizing a modern engine with HD visuals. As far as mechanics and gameplay are concerned, nothing was being changed or added. Updated character models, shaders, lighting, and textures were the big upgrades as the game migrated into Unreal Engine 4. While the statement from Warner Bros. didn’t mention what issues Virtuous Games is facing specifically with Batman: Return to Arkham , the fact that a new release date was plainly put off isn’t a good sign at all. As soon as we get an update on the project, you’ll be the first to know.
