Getting to play virtual reality games is like living a dream. I mean, we’re getting close to Star Trek -style holosuites! But in the meantime, we’ll settle for wearing a headset and searching for new experiences to enjoy. One of which is actually an old experience. Remko van Brakel has made a virtual reality version of Nintendo’s Duck Hunt for the HTC Vive. It’s actually 3D Duck Hunt , with all sorts of sprites and assets inspired by (or maybe even grabbed from) the original NES game.
Here’s how it works. You grab this version of Duck Hunt , pop on your HTC Vive, pick up a controller, and shoot some ducks. You’re armed with an NES Zapper in-game! The dog even picks up to catch birds you’ve shot down or mock you.
The preliminary video for this demo is pretty cool. It shows the familiar art style and various background samples that suggest maybe this version of Duck Hunt is taking place in the Mushroom Kingdom.
