Microsoft has recently revealed that it will be discontinuing its line of Surface 3 devices by the end of 2016, which means it’s time to sweeten the pot for anyone considering a pricier Surface 4. To that end, Microsoft has put together one of the sweetest offers for anyone in need of a new computer / tablet this school season. From now until August 14, when you purchase a Surface Pro 4 ($899) from the Microsoft Store, you can get a free Xbox One as well. You’ll have to add both items to your shopping cart, and cost of the console will be subtracted from your total at checkout.
If you don’t plan on purchasing a 4K TV in the near future, then an Xbox One is a perfectly reasonable console in which to invest your money. Phil Spencer has emphasized that the Xbox One library will be playable on Project Scorpio, and the Xbox One S doesn’t have any advantages over its beefier brother unless you really need the HDR output.
If you were planning on spending Ultrabook money on a computer for school and been on the fence about purchasing an Xbox One, then this is the deal for you.
