You Won’t Ustream From PS4 Soon

And then there were two. Sony is narrowing the streaming field on PlayStation 4s. People who want to show off their gameplay by broadcasting with a push of the Share button are losing Ustream support. It ends on August 1, meaning a PS4 owner won’t be able to broadcast or watch via Ustream on the console or Vita.

This comes as a bit of a surprise, as Sony doesn’t explain why it’s going away. Ustream has been around since 2007 and was one of the first streaming services. It was even around before Twitch, which launched in 2011. It’s a reasonably popular platform.

On the plus side, we’ll still have two very handy and viable options left. You’ll still be able to share what you’re doing via Twitch or YouTube, both of which are more popular than Ustream is. Maybe it’d be wise to start transitioning over now, so you’ll be settled somewhere else when Ustream support is gone for good.
